SUMMARY

The safe handling of ships depends on many factors – on ship’s manoeuvring characteristics, human factor (operator experience and skill, his behaviour in stressed situation, etc.), actual environmental conditions, and degree of water area restriction. Results of analysis of casualties and accidents show that in one third of all are as a result of human error, and the same amount of damages is attributed to the poor controllability of ship, cargo and equipment.

This 3-day training will enhance the knowledge and Safety aboard Offshore Support Vessels and Oil/Gas installations teaching participants offshore terminology and safety during anchor handling, and supply operations.

Through this course, participants will learn how to reduce marine engineering vulnerability (s) and off hire associated costs. State of the art OSV safety and engineering maintenance techniques and principles including DNV, GL, Lloyds, IMO, PMA and ABS classification standards are addressed including vital Gap Analysis practices not covered by Classification Standards.

Importantly the science behind marine engineering vulnerabilities is examined including vibration, angular motions, fire and stability. Valuable cost reduction strategies that protect your asset integrity and increases its life cycle are also examined in this course.
